World Record: Caught April 21, 1961 in Jap Bay 24 lbs. 4 oz. 58 3/4 inches tip to tip.
Record Holder was mounted and hung in Emil Norton's cannery on the channel in Kodiak. Good Friday Earthquake and Tsunami washed it out to sea.
Fish and Game has a photo with notes on the back showing another lunker that could be bigger than the Record holder. Caught near Cherikoff Isl. 28 lbs 6 1/2 feet legspan.
