When Crab Was King: The Rise and Fall of the Kodiak King Crab Fishery
A Year-long radio project of the Kodiak Maritime Museum
Nylon Sinks Polyprop Floats (Episode 23 Runs Oct 12 to 18)
10-01-2008 The trick was to use a two-type line system with nylon on the top and polyprop on the bottom. That way the sinking nylon would tend to drag the line down into mid-water and away from props and such. A floating polyprop attached to the crab pot made the line want to rise and kept it from getting tangled in the pot or chewed up by rocks.
