2010 Fundraising Dinner
Please join us at Kodiak Maritime Museum's 8th annual Tastes and Tales of the Sea fundraising event. The dinner features a Seafarers Menu by Chef Joel Chenet, and a talk by Tim Smith, who will share photos and talk about growing up on the F/V Evangel as it traveled around Kodiak Island in the 50s and 60s.
Saturday, May 1st, Kodiak Harbor Convention Center. Doors open 6 p.m., Dinner 7 p.m. Silent Auction 6-9 p.m.
Tickets can be picked up at the door the night of the dinner.

"When Crab Was King" Audio CD
This 14 minute audio CD features highlights from the Kodiak Maritime Museum's oral history, "When Crab Was King." Millions of pounds of crab, tragic boat sinkings, helicopter rescues, fast money and more bars than churches made Kodiak the "King Crab Capitol of the World," from the 1960s to the 1980s. Hear the stories and voices of some of the people who lived through one of the greatest fisheries booms in history.

Kodiak Fish Tales, Petroglyphs and Pioneers Oral History Recordings
Kodiak Maritime Museum, in collaboration Kodiak’s other museums the Alutiiq Museum, Baranov Museum and Kodiak Military History Museum has recorded many oral history interviews of elders recalling Kodiak’s early days. The recordings, which include historic photos of the times and experiences of the elders’ pasts, are available for sale on VHS and DVD.
